Today the group woke up at 5:45 AM and headed to the Bisoke Volcano near Musanze. When we arrived at the park, we were intimidated by the looming volcano, and rumors that only 20% of hikers are able to summit the trek. Despite this, we optimistically started our five-hour journey. We ended up summiting the volcano in just over two hours, which is way faster than the average! At the summit, we had an amazing view of the city and a lake, placed right at the top of the volcano. We ate some snacks, took lots of pictures, and re-gained our energy before heading back down. It was a beautiful and very slippery walk back. After we completed our journey, we headed to our favorite coffee shop in Musanze. We enjoyed a nice lunch of bagels, granola, cinnamon rolls, eggs, and of course coffee! Exhausted, we headed back to the hostel to shower and rest from a very active day!
